KitchenAid blender coupler replacement

If your KitchenAid blender coupler has broken nibs and needs to be replaced, you don’t have to buy a new blender or find a service center or send your blender back to KitchenAid for a repair – you can do it yourself! Follow this video and learn how to remove the old coupler with a mallet and flathead screwdriver. You can find a replacement coupler online for . Note: As stated in the video, the coupler unscrews CLOCKWISE. If you hit it with the screwdriver / mallet combo in a clockwise direction a few times, the coupler will spin faster than the motor shaft and will unscrew.

Didn’t work for me. Just destroyed the coupler. Be careful.

never mind, it was seized, a little wd40 did the trick!
although, i hadn’t looked at it before, but the new coupler game with instructions, saying to just get a flat-head, slide under, push up a bit, more it around, push up again, and continue until it pops off… not very scientific huh?

It worked great on my blender, even though the coupler was so tight that they already destroyed two of those special thin wrenches in the shop. It took me about 10 hits. Thanks!

This method might be ok in some cases, but if the coupling is really tight, and/or you’d simply rather avoid hammering on the motor shaft, there’s a special thin wrench available for this job. It fits between the coupling and the base, and it grabs the top of the motor shaft. Couplings are usually about $5 ea. I found a kit w/ 2 couplings and a wrench for $13 from seneca-river-trading*DOT*com (the dashes are part of the URL, but remove the asterisks), which is the best deal I’ve seen.

Saved me time and money. I´m sure I would lose time and patience before discovering that the screw turned clockwise. Luck to see the video before opening the blender. Thanks for sharing.

I just did mine. It’s best to hold the screwdriver in a more horizontal manner to avoid the downward pressure demonstrated in this video. The object is to spin the rubber coupler clockwise (not hit it straight down). Thanks.
