Is a food processor really that helpful?

August 31st, 2010 admin 2 comments

Question by Lubyloo: Is a food processor really that helpful?
I’d like to start cooking more, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time with prep work, such as chopping up vegetables. So, I decided to buy the Cuisinart 14-cup food processor based in large part on the fact that the packaging says that you can put whole vegetables in the machine without pre-cutting them to fit in the chute. I know that it all depends on the recipe, but I’m wondering if the food processor will generally cut down that much time in food prep for me. Would I be better off getting a Vidalia Chop Wizard? I probably won’t be using the food processor for much other than chopping things up. Thanks.

If you can’t, get a Cuisinart. I make a toffee ice cream that requires that candied nuts get blitzed in the food processor and my Cuizi hasn’t failed me in over 10 years.

Have fun!

Question by Cheryl W: Wany to buy a good, reasonably priced food processor…?
…that is not obnoxiously loud. I have the Cuisinart blender/processor combo which is a little small for what I need, not to mention horribly loud. Anyone have a recommendation?

Kitchen Aid KFP710 was Consumer Reports “Best Buy” at . It looks like just about any Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart should be good and scored as being very quiet.
